30 Day Giving Challenge Day 27

Saturday I had the great honor of doing something that I have never done before, but first let me give you some of the background behind the story. My mother-in-law Gwen, next door neighbor are a very sweet old couple, Jenny and Jim. Jim's health is failing and he could go at anytime. Gwen has been helping out by taking some supers over every week so Jenny doesn't have to cook every night. Gwen also invited Jenny to our church ladies Christmas Creations event trying to get her out of the house and to have some fun. Jenny was able to come and she had wonderful time, and kept thanking Gwen for asking her to come. You see Jim and Jenny are not saved so we are trying to witness to them and show them the love of Christ.

This past Saturday Gwen asked me to bring up my hair cutting kit with me when we came to do our laundry for the week. She said that Jenny was wanting to get Jim's hair cut. At first I am sorry to say that I was a little put off by not being ask and just told what I was going to do. So I brought up the hair kit and late in the afternoon Jenny called and said that Jim was up and ready for us to come over to give him a hair cut.

When I walk into Jenny's and Jim's kitchen I saw that Jim was in a wheelchair with a towel around his neck ready for his hair cut. He thanked me before I even had out the scissors. When I went to start I saw that Jim had soars all over his head I was so afraid that I would do something to hurt him. I started out very slowly making sure that I would not hurt him. During the time I was cutting his hair I made small talk with him, he told me different stories but there was one thing that stuck out to me. Jim said that he always liked having a nice clean hair cut. Men were not to have long hair like the ladies do. He was so happy to have his hair cut and know that he looked good even if he was going nowhere.

Jenny when I was done came over to look and had tears in her eyes and said to Jim, " You look just as handsome as the day I meet you." Wow what a blessing that was to hear Jenny say that. You see I am sucker when it comes to "old love" to me there is nothing better than that. To see what I did by cutting Jim's hair had done for both Jim and Jenny I was the one that walked away being blessed.
