30 Day Giving Challenge Day 27

Saturday I had the great honor of doing something that I have never done before, but first let me give you some of the background behind the story. My mother-in-law Gwen, next door neighbor are a very sweet old couple, Jenny and Jim. Jim's health is failing and he could go at anytime. Gwen has been helping out by taking some supers over every week so Jenny doesn't have to cook every night. Gwen also invited Jenny to our church ladies Christmas Creations event trying to get her out of the house and to have some fun. Jenny was able to come and she had wonderful time, and kept thanking Gwen for asking her to come. You see Jim and Jenny are not saved so we are trying to witness to them and show them the love of Christ.

This past Saturday Gwen asked me to bring up my hair cutting kit with me when we came to do our laundry for the week. She said that Jenny was wanting to get Jim's hair cut. At first I am sorry to say that I was a little put off by not being ask and just told what I was going to do. So I brought up the hair kit and late in the afternoon Jenny called and said that Jim was up and ready for us to come over to give him a hair cut.

When I walk into Jenny's and Jim's kitchen I saw that Jim was in a wheelchair with a towel around his neck ready for his hair cut. He thanked me before I even had out the scissors. When I went to start I saw that Jim had soars all over his head I was so afraid that I would do something to hurt him. I started out very slowly making sure that I would not hurt him. During the time I was cutting his hair I made small talk with him, he told me different stories but there was one thing that stuck out to me. Jim said that he always liked having a nice clean hair cut. Men were not to have long hair like the ladies do. He was so happy to have his hair cut and know that he looked good even if he was going nowhere.

Jenny when I was done came over to look and had tears in her eyes and said to Jim, " You look just as handsome as the day I meet you." Wow what a blessing that was to hear Jenny say that. You see I am sucker when it comes to "old love" to me there is nothing better than that. To see what I did by cutting Jim's hair had done for both Jim and Jenny I was the one that walked away being blessed.

Day 11 On The 30 Day Giving Challenge

I am learning that I am not very good about updating my blog and keeping up with what I do each day in the "30 Day Giving Challenge". This month I have been learning alot about giving and how to give in all forms. I use to think that I needed to give big if I was going to make a difference in a person life, but that is so far from the truth. Over the past 17 days I have learned that it is the small things that make a big impact!

Last Thursday night Justin and I took Mackenzie and Brandon to Target to buy the items we were going to put into the shoe box's for Operation Christmas Child. Mackenzie had so much fun looking and thinking what these child would need and like to have. We were able to see her giving spirit coming out and understand that this children that would get these box's had nothing and she had alot to be thankfull.

After we ate supper at McDonald's ( I did like the idea but one meal from there won't kill us right) we went and packed the box's in the car. We had fun talking about what the kids might think of getting all this. We also put in each box and picture of our family and our address, we are praying that we will get a letter back from one of them. After all the box's were packed we drove to a local church where K-Love 94.3 was taking box's and dropped ours off. Mackenzie was so very excited to get to see the K-Love van that she could not stop jumping up and down.

I will always remember that night as a night that my family all gave a wonderful give to Jesus.

30 day giving challenge Day 4

3Today I was able to watch the children of one of the families at our church. The mom is pregnant so she needed someone to watch the other two kids while she and her husband could go to their mid-wife appointment. I had so much fun playing and watching these two kiddies.

I can say that I have felt happier this week and closer to God. There is just something about giving to other people. I think that we would be a much happier people if we would stop thinking about our self and started giving of our self.

30 day giving challenge day 3

Sorry I am behind in posting on my giving challenge this week. Wednesday I cooked super for the youth leaders at our church. They just happen to be our best friends. They both work full time jobs and on many Wednesdays nights they just skip super because they have no time. They give so much to our youth group time, money and emotions. I wanted to help in some way. So I am happy to say that I told them every Wednesday night to come over and have super at our house. They were very grateful for offer and said yes.

30 day giving challenge Day two

When I got up this morning I had no idea for how I was going to give or who I would give too. I wanted to make sure that I didn't miss a opportunity to give becasue I thought it was to small.

Today I gave to Brandon my son. Alot of you know that he was born Down Syndrome, and this summer he finally became potty trained. (Thank you Lord Jesus) Lately the little guy has had more trouble with not getting to the potty in time. My heart truly breaks for him because you can just see that he is mad at himself when this happens.

Brandon had two BM accidents and wet the bed at nap time today. I was able to give to him the love he need. Postive incouragment that he could do this even when it is hard and loving arms to fall into when he was sad. I gave of my time with the two baths that needed to be given and then to do the big pile of laundry. All with a smile on my face.

You might be saying well that is just what a mom would do, and you are right but I did it with a servent's addituted. I think that alot of the time we moms can get caught up with all that needs to get done and we forget that are main job is to give to our children and to show them the love of Christ.

30 day giving challenge Day one

Day one

Two weeks ago we had a family move in underneath us and we rejoiced because this was an answer to our prayers. The unit below us had been empty for two years and in the winter it made our condo even colder. We really missed having the heat from the unit below raise into our unit. We prayed and prayed that the Lord would have some family move in before this winter came and He answered with a YES.

The family that moved in comes with a great opportunity for me to show the love of Christ. Come to find out the Dad died a month ago leaving a 15 year old daughter, 4 year daughter and a 5 month old daughter. I can only imagine what the mother is going threw.

After finding this out I just prayed and thanked the Lord for this opportunity to help this family and to show the love of Christ to them. So with the 30 day giving challenge starting yesterday this family came to my mind first. I was able to put together a laundry basket of food and other household goodies to give to them.

I had so much fun running around our condo getting it all put together and thinking of things to put in the basket. I waited till the mom had left to go run some errands then ran down and put the basket in-front of her door. I said a prayer over the basket that God would just bless this family and that this basket would touch the moms heart.

Later that afternoon I was going down the steps to get Mackenzie off the bus and the Mom had just made her second trip up the stairs and she asked if I was the one who had left the basket. When I said yes she just huged me and began to cry, she said that she was having a bad day and that was just what she needed.

Thank you Lord for using me to bless someone else.

30 Day Giving Challenge!!!

I came across these really cool 30 day giving challenge and wanted to share it with you guys. I will speak for only myself but I know that I live a very comfortable and blessed life. There is always food on the table, clothes in my closet, many shoes to wear, very nice SUV to drive, a husband with a great job that keeps my home and so many other things. I want to stop thinking about myself this month and focus on giving to other people because God has given so much to me. I love this song by Mathew West My Own Little World

This is me, and for the next 30 days I will be seeking ways to give of myself and money to give to my family and other people. My goal is to bring happiness into every ones life that I meet for that day and to be able to bless them in some small or big way.

Go here and find out more about this 30 day giving challenge.

Acts 30:35 In everthing I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remeber the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said " it is more blessed to give than to receive."
